Comming Season Looking Good

Start of the NZ apple season will kick off in early February for 2009.

Fruit currently looks very good on the trees, and growers are keeping their fingers crossed for an excellent harvest.

Fruit set was very good, so we are looking at a large crop volume wise. The Braeburn volume has come back to a full crop after last year's frost – which saw volumes decline.

Fruit size is currently large for this time of the year, so if this continues, we will have a large average fruit size for 2009.

In all growers are reporting that on the orchard things look good for 2009 with no real climatic events having caused issues so far this season.

Royal Gala looking slightly early, pitched to be mid February harvest.

NZ Beauty little early around 8 th February. Colour hasn't come on yet, but fruit is very clean.

The National Crop profile from Agfirst NZ is expected in January. We will advise more on the crop then.
